Shoulderboard

Don't worry too much about the shoulderboard being sloppy. This is very common with early SA/SS shoulderboards. The key is the material used. I HAVE seen SA tab wool that has a grain, but this is unusual, as most do NOT. Original SA wool has a very fine nap, with the actual weave showing only where it's worn. Wool felt was also used. The piping material is also fairly distinct, though several different piping materials were used. Here are two interesting variations:

not sloppy maybe i used teh wrong wording,all of yours and other good examples,teh underlay is fairy close to the twist piping,on teh shirt example there is alot of it around teh piping like to much material if you look from top down as shown in photo,see what i mean?the black surrounds teh piping too much.

If your talking about collar piping yes they did always wear it but NOT on tabs during that time see below...

I was referring to COLLAR piping. You're correct - no tab piping - EXCEPT -
enlisted SS men wore WHITE piping around their tabs in the '33-'34? era. Look at the photos on Collector's Guild website for examples.
