          Meanings of the DHW pieces:

Typical detail: the tree of life-fittings.

Since this closet was the most expensive piece of furniture offered by the DHW (Nr. 83) and most published one in their booklets I assume that this piece was meant to be a Sippenschrein for the SS-family.

The smaller version and a possibility to represent and be in use as a Jul- und Sippentruhe would then be the sideboard they offered (Nr. 91) - both bear the distinctive pagan tree of life-fittings and there is no other piece bearing this decoration.

That is supported by the fact that the DHW offered offered the tree of life-tapestries in several sizes which ALL are a perfect match either to this smaller sideboard (Nr. 91) or to their offered Jul-chest - which is not listed in any of the DHW booklets like all other published and offered pieces!

The closet (Nr. 83) was not meant to be combined with a tapestry and therefore - literally - stands on it´s own merits.

Over the years there was a development and change of construction methods and decor - just as it was the case with the most important Allach pieces as well!

That tells us quite something about the inner cultural importance of this DHW piece.

And the bottom - every part can easily last for centuries.

And this one - due to regional differences of craftmanship, type of used wood and iron the look of these is almost never identical to each other.

Nevertheless the level of quality of DHW pieces in general is high - and with a glance on production ranges and "craftmanship" of today´s furniture pieces almost, if not completely, unapproachable.

Yes I think so, a modern piece made in 1990 according to the seller.

                                Karl Diebitsch drypoints surfaced

Let´s get back to some authentic and yet unknown pieces:

Some drypoints of Diebitsch depicting - in his typical detailed style - medieval and classical towns, castles, towers and city gates of Upper and Lower Bavaria.

This lot - all drypoints on hand-made paper - contains also views of culturally distinctive from other parts of the Reich such as Kelheim, castles and cities at the Rhine river and some landscapes.

Due to the fact that a few selected ones of these motifs are also being used as cover decorations of a series of menue cards of a shipping company in 1938 there is doubtless evidence given that all of these art pieces were made at a time when Diebitsch was - more or less - officially the most important artist of the SS and personal adviser and supervisor of Himmler´s cultural and artistic projects.

Each one of the hand-made papers bears his handwritten signature as well.

                                Here we go:
