Blood Order Lapel Pin Help Please!!!!

Guys,
I picked this pin up a short while back and was able to find out limited info on it. Supposedly its a members badge "Victims Ring", Freedom League of the NSDAP, whatever that might be (couldn`t find any info on that group either). In doing a little more research I found a website that had sold it under this description, " Eternal Flame or Putsch Pin, official badge authorized for wear by recipients of the Blood Order and for those who gave aid to the wounded in the failed Putsch. Has anyone ever heard this before and is this pin indeed that, and if not, what exactly the hell is it!!! Thanks for any help

It's for organizers of the 1933-34 Winter Relief Campaign (collecting donations and old clothes for the poor) of the Winterhilfewerk (WHW). It's rated an uncommon pin, but no relation to the Blood Order.

The flames in a bowl are a common symbol of "sacrifice" or "Opferring", as in the sacrificial offerings of the ancients, used in this context to signify donation to a worthy cause.

Thanks for this info. It does make sense, alot more then the Blood Order thing. Is this pin referenced in any book? I`m kinda familiar with WHW items, but haven`t seen it in any of the books I`ve come across. & Thanks again

Hi Chris,

The badge is described in Cone's book on enamelled badges and shows up in the Husken guide. It is sometimes wrongly described as a donation badge (like a WHW tinnie), but the quality and small numbers produced indicates it is more of a member / organizer pin.
