are the shoulder straps very rare with the red war helpers stripes, also have the pips been added at a later date as they seem a little close to the bann number.

Bann 648 Thorn (HJ-Gebiet 37 Danzig-Westpreußen). As Stu says, the Bann existed from 1940. The red stripe denoted a war volunteer. I'd put the price somewhere around 100 Euros.

They do look a little odd with the pip so high up but the straps themselves look to be fine. I'd personally need to see more detailed photos as it wouldn't be a difficult job of course to 'upgrade' a set of straps to turn them into a pair for a war volunteer Kameradschaftsführer.

Straps appear to be cut down slightly, possibly for smaller shoulders. Pips don't really match, they look older than the rest of the straps.

As for the Kriegsfreiwillige, the regulation cording was introduced in July 1944 when Axmann proclaimed 1944 as the "year of the war volunteers". The official size is listed at 2.0mm wide red twisted cord.

The red ribbon of 1.0cm width is not an "official" issue item but was mentioned in orders from the Oberkommando der Luftwaffe on July 19th 1944.

Many thousands of these were handed out during the last years of the war.

As for value, 9 bids and 5 bidders with 5 days to go, these will probably sell for a higher price than they are worth.

21 bids and still one day to go. I never understand why people bid so early on Ebay items and run the price up before the auction ends. Don't they know how the "watch" feature works?

this happens because the seller gets his mates to bid on the auction or the seller has other ebay user accounts and bids himself on his own items ! i never bid early myself the last 10 or 12 seconds does it for me 99% of the time
