    Sa Belt Experts!?!?!

    I got this openClaw belt with crosstrap in trades a while ago,I thought it had no markings but looking closer i discovered the SA marking today wich are in the photograph.. i dont have a good camera a the moment but i did snap a good pic of the eagle

    This is a brown belt,Gold buckle,matching cross strap,matching dagger hanger
    the buckle has a 1938 stamped in it
    It looks very old and smells even older

    Is this a known stamp in the belt??
    How much could it be worth then??

    Can you post teh whole rig please? This mark could have been post war added to add value to belt,but Ive never seen a period stamp like that,please post whole setup for assessment.

      I've got one in the collection stamped in black ink with a super early eagle SA/SS marked Munich.

      I think is it were SA marked it would be with the era SA logo and not just SA. Opinion this is, not based on anythign 'cept that.

        SA belts were normally :
        1. Not marked (there was a paper label which had to be removed before wearing the belt)
        or
        2. RZM stamped on the back of the leather in ink (usually by the leather supplier, not the belt maker)
        or
        3. RZM impressed with the L code, maker's code, and date
        or
        4. Marked 'Croupon' or by the belt maker/seller (usually for a higher grade belt set).

        The eagle stamp looks more like what one finds on the reverse of a holster in the first image, and the 'SA' is likewise atypical of any sort of marking I've seen on SA leather gear.

          Without further photos to judge whether this is a German belt or not; my gut says "SA" is a Swedish mark and the "eagle" is spurious. Hope I am wrong.

                I think some of the postwar police stuff was brown with gold fittings.

                  but in the mean time the fittings are marked 1938

                        While the close ups appear more difficult to be able to digest, I have to believe that this item is 100% original era produced and not a later post war item.

                          Could be, but this is not an SA belt--it's a PL belt. And it fits the criteria re the RZM stamping--the other marks are the property stamp and a document stamp. The RZM stamped coding is somewhat odd not being in a straight line--the stamped belts and other leather goods I have are more in line.

                            So why would someone use a document stamp on a leather belt? Next I'll advise where this came from I think it might raise some eyebrows

                            Not laughing at you Eric but the source is, well, impecabble to many and the more I can find out the better!!!!!

                            I am willing to bet a case of Guiness that this and others like it, and maybe these without if what proves to be a document stamp, were worn by SA men.

                            I can't make the stamp out well enough and franlkly I really don't care one way or the other at this point about the item if and if nots, but more about what it could prove to be in the case of the part of acquisition.

                            Grrrrrr.......someone will be in a major way.
