Actually, I would think the Life of Jakob Grimminger would make a great story, although not very PC in certain circles.

He was pretty much there from beginning to end..

Early street fighting w/communists
The build up of the party
The election/seizure of power
Knight of the Long Knives
Triumph of the Will
Rise to world military power
War
Downfall

..all viewed through the lens of someone entrusted to carry the most sacred symbol of the movement.

One interesting fact about Grimminger, was that he was no where near the FHH on the fateful day in Nov. 1923. He was standing guard at a bridge.
