please offer your opinion on this SA Badge. Is it gold?

The following photos show it alone, or alongside the bronze badge that I already have. Could it be simply polished bronze, or do you think it may be a gold badge? It was offered to me as a gold badge, with a guarantee. There appears to be a plating of some kind (gold?) on the front side only. Would this be correct for a gold badge, or would it be plated front and back.
Also, do you think the box may be original? Thanks very much.

Its definitely bronce - E.Schneider with numbers under 300 000 are from nonmagnetic material tombac and the bronce paint is verry light, if you polish it, its looks like gold.
At this high numbered area, it cant be gold
