Invitation from Hitler to Olympics Opening Function

Some of you may have already seen these items here: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=684460

In any case, I am re-posting in this thread those specifically related to the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin:

    1. Invitation to Duke Adolf Friedrich of Mecklenburg - a German member of the International Olympic Committee - to a meal at 13:30 Uhr (1:30PM) on August 1, 1936 - the opening day of the Summer Olympics in Berlin.

    2. A menu card for that meal served at the Summer Olympics function held on 1.August.1936.

Please enjoy viewing these rare paper documents.

    Regards,

    John

Beautiful and historic artifacts, John! The family of Grand Duke Adolf Friedrich of Mecklenburg also included Friedrich Franz von Mecklenburg, who was an SS officer, a diplomat attached to the German Embassy in Denmark and a member of a Waffen-SS Panzer Division. Also of interest -- at least to me! -- is the presence of the embossed eagle and swastika on this invitation; it is of the short-lived M-1936 PL style. Fine additions to any TR Political Collection!

Two interesting items from the '36 Olympics. First is a commemorative wooden plaque made by engineering manufacturer Elze & Hess of Gera made by one their fancy router machines in less that one minute, nice to know hours of craftsmenship went in to making this!

The second is a stamped metal plaque section that at some point featured within a wicker style box. Another souvenir commemorative piece.

Just wanted to bump this thread with this beautiful Godet miniature ribbon bar eagle for the Olympic Games medal.

These are so rare to get a hold of, and this simple array of awards is certainly enhanced by the addition of this miniature.

The miniature itself represents the neck grade of the Olympic Games medal, and similar examples can be found on other ribbon bars. I can recall 3/4 others featuring the enamel eagle.

It's great to see miniature devices on ribbon bars in general. It's awesome to see the Olympic as you posted Great share.
