Although regulations called for tacking the tabs by hand and removing them when the shirt was to be laundered, occasionally machine sewn tabs are seen on apparently original examples. The numbers on the tabs are not regulation--at this time they should have been chain stitched, however the OSAF frequently sent reminders to the units about this indicating that other forms of stitching had been seen and were forbidden. If the white threads don't glow under UV and if the thread used is cotton or cotton/rayon, you would be hard pressed to say with certainty that the shirt was not originally in this configuration.

        Shirt

Shirt and collar piping look OK. SA collar tabs varied somewhat in size and shape, but these tabs just aren't right. Wrong shape, size, and embroidery. Need better pics of the shoulderboard, but it looks ok from the pics shown. The armband is also suspect, and even if it is real, it wasn't on the shirt originally. Personally, I'd pass on this shirt. IF the collar piping is authentic, it'd be a great shirt to restore.
