                Buckle

After looking at MANY original photos, it appears that the SA rarely used the box type buckle with the tunic. They almost always used the open-claw buckle. The box type buckle and claw buckle were both used widely with the brownshirt.

The SA box type buckle was replaced for all ranks in 1933-34, so you won't normally see it worn in photos unless they're very early images.
