About what I expected for a reply, though! No elaborating on why you don't consider them rare, either.

Rob, having seen them at military fairs and up once at an auction, plus these fine examples on the thread, i wouldnt think they are rare. Maybe scarce, but not rare. Unless you're talking about rare being that particular unique piece, one and only one, well thats rare then!

I feel that they are pricey. if you say that they can be bought for less than US$1000, show me the evidence.

      A lovely grouping.

Rob - would you be kind enough to show us at least 5 examples where they could be bought for less than US$1000? Thanks!

I have no need now nor ever to prove anything to you.

I know what I've paid for them in the past, I know where some are and what I can buy them for if I so desire, and they are within the price range I quoted. I really couldn't care less whether or not you believe me.

                      docs

I believe the documents are more scare than the actual pins. Paper is just not as a durable as metal and due to the denazification process I don't think many people wanted to have their name associated on such a document. In fact, I acquired one such GPB document where the person's name was removed. The second GPB document I picked up only a few weeks ago and it came with the person's NSDAP membership book (but no pin). Below is a scan...apparently the person quit the SA to join the SS (SS# 48104) and respective organizational stamps are shown.

As for pricing, I figure though the document is rarer than the pin there is just a much lower demand for it which I believe is true for all documents....ergo, the lower price; Economics 101.
