    HJ or NSKK?

I picked this up as a HJ NSKK member. Was there such a thing? What unit is this? NSKK, or HJ NSKK?

Looks more like HJ with NSFK ties.

The young man in the photo is HJ. The circular badge on his left arm is awarded for graduating from a "Flieger Technische Vorschule". The badge on his left breast pocket is NSFK for a 'Winner in the National Model Glider Flying Competition, held at Wasserkuppe, June 1941'. This photo appears in "Youth Led By Youth" vol 2 page 28.

Thanks guys. So it's HJ with an NSFK badge. NSFK was a flight division or something?

You say this photo is published in a book? Is this a modern HJ reference book? This particular photo is a private postcard photo, so it may have been another copy of it used , unless it was this one.

NSFK was the national socialist glider corps. They kind of evolved out of the fleiger-SA, but the NSKK never became as political as SA or NSKK if I understand.

You may wish to use a black light on this picture to see if it glows. Modern copies of it have been circulating for a number of years now.

            Cheers

Really? Blacklight works with photos also, not just cloth items? Is there any other way to tell?

Indeed it works very well. There are other methods but they rely on experience with old paper, water marks etc.

Check out this very old thread, there's a picture I took showing a new photo in amongst period ones under blacklight. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ht=black+light

I'm going to try this for sure. The last thing I want in my collection is reproductions. I will post the rear later to see if that helps. Who sells these black lights?

that was a very nice portrait and yes it's on the excellent 3 book serie Youth led by Youth-
UV Light works fine with postcards and pics but fakers became smarter: you can find reprints on old paper or modern prints coated with a thin laque (sorry, not sure about the proper english word) which are indeed FAKE but do not glow...unfortunately
