    Silver Gau badge

    Hi,

What you are think about this badge.
Can someone tell me more from this medal, who got this kind of medals, what is current value....
And most important thing is this real or fake??

It looks like a nice Gau Munich badge. Most references say that these badges were awarded to those who took part in the 1923 Putsch but they probably had other uses as well. Value about 250.00.

These badges were never a National award but were awarded by Gauleiter Wagner. I think that these badges are undervalued like a lot of Political decorations. IMO. Here's mine.

He's either a Verwaltungs NCO of his unit, or a medical SA NCO. Both wore mirrored tabs during that period; blue velvet for Verwaltung and violet for Sanitäts. They look more like violet, as it appears to be orthochromatic film, which makes reds dark and blues light, but it's impossible to say for sure.

                      silver GM

                      Jame,

I have a GM (round '33') with a silver finish. See this link at the very end where I've posted photos.

Nice badge. IMO that round '33' is nicer than mine

The round 33 badges were not MM and probably made by another maker other than Deschler. I have seen them in silver as well but the standard textbook examples were the Deschler MM badges with flat 3's IMO.

just a few more comments i've noted elsewhere:

                            - the 'round 33' version actually has an indiscrete mark on the back.
                            - I have one 'Deschler' version that is actually unmarked.
                            - the Deschler marker mark varies a bit mostly with 'und' and '&'. the umlauts are sometimes visibles and others not but that may be wear on the die.
                            - on the Deschler sometimes on the reverse of the swaz is what appears to be a design of a small oval with a line through it. sometimes only a part of this design is shown.
                            - on the Deschler I've seen where on the obverse there is an effect of a what appears to be 2 crosses, one on top of the other. if you go to Jamie's article on the Gau Munich you'll a photo of this.
