It looks like an original to me. The number font used on these later pieces is also correct on this medal. It also looks in good shape!

Very strange. The obverse shows an eagle with a sharp pointed beak, which is the type of eagle found on 1st issue Blood Orders made by Fuss. The reverse is not Fuss marked nor is it 900+ silver as are the Fuss made 1st issues. This reverse is consistent with a 2d issue, 1938, whic has an eagle with a blunter beak and is not maker marked and is in 800 silver. Both sides look right, but what gives here? An unknown variation?

Could be the photo but I see no problems with this medal.

I agree, it is a type II b or III, depending on what terminology you want to use. I've only ever seen these with high numbers or unnumbered.

So far I have found 3 reverse dies. Type 1, the numbers here are 577, what is known as The first model, with Fuess and 990. then 3545 this has no maker and 800. Type 2, numbered 2844 no maker mark and 800. Type 3, numbered 4101 no maker mark and 800.

Thus this gives rise to 4 different reverse dies.

The type 3, numbered 4101, is the same as that which is shown on this thread.

Correct a very high numbered second pattern showing the correct characteristics for that number range. Personally I am not a lover of these high numbered pieces the finish and detail is not in the same league as a first pattern or earlier second pattern. Still an original and rare Blutorden though.
