          I'm fairly astute when it comes to SA items, but certainly no expert on enamel badges. Having said that, there are a few questions I would ask before purchasing the initial badge in question. 1. The width of the lettering at the top is MUCH thicker than the rest of the lettering. 2. Why would they make a badge in fine .900 silver and then plate it with a gold color? Silver doesn't usually ozidize into gold. The badge may be perfectly good, so I'm just asking

                      The answer to the question "why would they make a Badge in 900 fein-silber & then gold-plate it?" is simply because that's the way they did it; look at all the differing grades of the Order of the German Eagle that are gold-plated silver marked 900 .
