    Amazing!!

    Poor member "nische" - I really hope that he did not give away his original and extremely rare armband for the price of a reproduction.

      Just to make sure I understand what Wim meant--the armband that started the thread is not a 1923 vintage piece, so the pip and number would have been added in the 30s either for a traditional 9. Nov uniform or a display pre-45. Or the insignia were added post 45.

        I'm sure Adlerfan53 is correct on the armband, itself. The white rondel material is suspicious in appearance, and the blacklight result supports the theory that it's probably not authentic. As others have mentioned, armbands that have numerals or pips were much earlier(1920's), more crudely made, and have a different overall appearance. According to Angolia, the metal numeral represented the SA Company, and a pip designated a company commander.
        The GOOD news, is that the metal numeral and pip COULD be authentic items. Aluminum pips often retain much of their luster.
