    Reichsparteitag 1934 Photo Album Remnants

Although I am primarily a KM collector, I have built a small collection of Reichsparteitag artifacts since I first visited the Reichsparteitagsgelände in Nürnberg in the year 2000. I will be posting some of my items in various threads, starting with this thread of remnants of a 1934 photo album.

I had the opportunity to purchase this lot a couple of years ago. It is a series of single pages/single photos. All of the Leni Reifenstahl photos were picked off, but there are still some great historical shots IMO. All of these photos were taken in the old city, not out at the Luitpoldhain where the two mass venues were located. The real highlights for me are the photos showing the filming of Triumph des Willens.

Here is an overview of one of the pages. Note the cameraman Sepp Allgeier on the boom above the marching troops.

Not a photo, but the high-relief on a commemorative plate showing the march past Hitler on the AH Platz. This plate is damaged after the SA Purge, as were many of these examples, due to the depiction of Röhm. The central part of the plate is intact, but the edges are cracked.

Some very nice photos Erik. I love the plate. I've never seen this before and would love to get one for my political collection.

Very nice album, Erik. Was there any indication of the original owner?

Some super shots - - thanks for sharing.

I have a couple of souvinir plates (and beer mugs too) but I have never seen that one before - - - a rare piece for sure to have have survived the Rohm purge and the 1945 de-Nazification process too !!

Richard, Dan, and Phil: thanks for your comments. You can see an intact example of the plate on page 357 of Thomas M. Johnson's "German War Booty".

Erich: No trace of who the original owner of this album was. I bought it from a well-known paper dealer.

I will be posting more RPT items soon.

                              Best Regards,

                              Erik
