Would like some opinons on this badge to determine authenticity. I have not seen this type badge before and search engine does not seem to have anything like this archived. Many thanks.

1941 NSKK Pistole Motorgruppe Badge - Opinions

I've been trying to research the Motorgruppe Oberdonau shooting badges for a few months now to be included in a book on Austrian shooting badges.
So far I have not been able to find any evidence that suggests that these badges are not genuine. They are well made, using different materials/fixings in different years, (fakers tend to use the same materials & fixings when they make their items ).
The early badges were as illustrated above, a round badge in bronze, silver, gold or gold with oakleaves (the gold finish tends to be lost as can be seen on the one above), & were awarded for attaining a minimum grade in either pistole or KK-Gewehr shooting.
In 1942 & '43 the design was changed to resemble the style of the Reichsberufswettkampf badge, that is a large round badge with a seperate NSKK eagle on it. Also a Meisterschütze badge was added to the group for shooting both weapons.
Here is my cased 1942 KK-Gewehr set.
Cheers

Like all of you I have no reason, or better yet, see no obvious red flags on the construction of the badge itself. It is very well made and definitely looks to be period done. Appreciate the insight and would love to here more of Don's investigative findings should he learn more from this obvious surreptitious type award.
