"...Schwede Coburg didn't qualify for the 1st pattern badge..."

I agree, Erich -- wasn't that because he was out of town over that weekend in 1922! That he got the CB at all is due to that old standard that "rank hath it's privileges!"

    Cheers,

If Mil was able to obtain a CBB, thats good news. He pm'd me sometime back asking about selling mine. 2 reasons I am keeping this badge as long as possible:
        1. 1st Coburg badge I had ever seen was in the late 50's. It was with red translucent enamel, mounted to an artifically aged silvered badge. Was illustrated on a small cigarette card. Here is a link to the actual badge:

So at about 10 years old made it a goal to get 1.

        2. Heirloom to a family member who has a Masters in WWII history.

The 2nd pattern badge. Like Schwede Coburg, he didn't qualify for the 1st pattern badge.

Erich, are you talking about the Duke or Schwede-Coburg. Please give us your analysis of the badge being a 2nd pattern.

Interesting post, which made me read up more about Carl-Eduard and it seems that he joined the Nazi Party in March 1933 and that same year became a member of the SA. It also says that he met AH for the first time on 14 October 1922 at the second Deutscher Tag at Coburg. So if talking about the Duke, it would seem that he should qualify for the first issue of the CB?
