Agree--while it could have been done during the period (assuming the mini insignia is original), you can see that the ring's face has not been shaped to follow the contours of the badge.

I assume that the marking inside the ring -- 585 or 595? -- indicates an alloyed silver content. I can't tell from the photos whether the CB logo on the ring's face is rendered in silver or gold color, but I do agree with Erich B. that the CB logo device was attached to a standard ring blank of a similar face size, with no effort to sculpt the blank to match the logo.

          585 means 14K gold.

About acquiring Hermann Edler's GPBs, this ring, and his 3 NSDAP LS award ribbon bar. His SA dagger had been in the grouping as well, but was split off.

I would rather have the stickpin then the ring. The ring would be difficult to wear with the top badge sticking out. Hard for me to believe it was period done.

Where there any Coburg Badges seen at the last SOS Show? Surprising that so few Coburg Badges appear yet BOs are all in the rage now...

My friend said that he didn't see any CBs at the SOS.

I think the ring could be period because it wouldn't be too far fetched for a recipient of the badge to have a custom ring made up for himself possibly from a sick pin.

Agree--as an unofficial jeweler made custom piece, I think it's certainly possible that it was ordered by a Coburg badge recipient.

I saw 2 Coburgs at the show Erich, one RZM and one first type.

Thanks Jon and that was two more badges than were at the MAX in Oct.

Good to know that there are surviving Coburg badges out in the wild!
