Could someone enlighten me what are the key characteristics that distinguish the first pattern and second pattern Coburger Abzeichen? (Apart from the pin).

Then either nobody wanted it ( or ?) or the ones that would have wanted it didn't find it ( or ?).

I guess there are those who want a perfect first pattern and are holding on.

                      D-H-F,

I've seen 3-4 coburg badges on the market in the past 12 months.
                      More will come by.

                      Patience.

There's another Coburg set worth looking.
Although it's the second pattern, for 1500eur more you'll get a mini and both are in good condition.

Waiting for the perfect 1st pattern to come along at a decent price I, too, have passed on a few.

I wonder why the 2nd pattern hasn't sold in weeks ? Even the screw back 1st pattern sold fast.

Really not much of a difference other than the 1st type being a little more convex in shape.

Prices on the 1st type badges have gone up in price in the last few years and are holding their value. Remember the 1st type badge on Hermanns that went for 7500 Eur. earlier in the year? As stated before, Years ago you never saw a 1st type badge for sale and very few RZM badges. A lot of old collections are coming to market and I think that once these badges are bought up it will be awhile before you see them again in these numbers for sale. Get them while you can!!

                              Coburgs galore

What is for sure the screw back and replaced pin indicate heavy wear, question is which one would you opt for ?
