What a wonderful artifact this personalized cigar box is! Like you all, this is the only example of such an awarded piece I've seen.
While I am aware that Johann Singer was both a BO and a CB Trager, I am unfamiliar with him as being "the Treasurer of the early DAP" and have quickly looked for any reference to him...but to no avail. Where does your reference to him as Party Treasurer originate, Erich? He was not mentioned by Hitler in MK.
Again, a wonderful piece!

the info on Singer comes from the book:
Hitler's voice:
Organization of the Nazi Party

Many thanks, Erich...I was unaware of the book, "Hitler's Voice." If possible, could you provide any further detail about Johann Singer from Mühlberger's book, such as the dates he held the position of Treasurer of the DAP, anything about whether Singer was the very first Schatzmeister (I realize that the DAP only existed by that name from 1/1919 until 2/1920, just 13 months), and who his successor in that role was? (Franz Schwarz did not become Treasurer of the NSDAP until the re-establishment of the Party in 1925.) I know this is a tall order and will understand if your time will not permit further research.
Thanks again, my friend,
Br. James

There is the rub as catalog pieces did not necessarily use original and identifiable insignia from originating items, while this is not a catalog piece I would think they would break a badge to do it. Its speculation given the award but just applying the cost of the box and the overall quality you have to default to the embellishments, and if that badge is not real I would have pause.
James, here is more info on Johann Singer:

Party # 58 (1920)
BO # 33Last edited by ErichS; 04-17-2014, 05:44 PM.

Wonderful information; many thanks for taking the time to put it together, Erich!
I was aware that Singer's NSDAP Membership Number was 58 and my presumption is that that number represented his membership in the post-2/1925 reorganization of the Party, since DAP/NSDAP numbers prior to the Putsch contained a minimum of three digits -- Hitler's being #555.
Thanks again, my friend, and I wish you and yours a joyous Eastertide!

Dear Erich and Andreas,
Great sketches! Where do they come from -- are these part of a post card series, or perhaps pamphlet or newspaper illustrations? What is the origin of the presumed captions: "Sieg in Coburg" and "Umbruch im alten Coburg?" From the style of the illustrated SA-Mann's uniform, both sketches appear to be from the very early 1930s...perhaps they come from a publication associated with the 1932 commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the Battle of Coburg?
Very nice indeed!
