Absolutely right Erich, these badges were lost,stolen and probably sold by some.Remember human beings never change.

Kyle, I can see decorations like the BO and CB being lost, but sold? That I doubt very much due to the penalty that would be incurred for such an infraction.

I would doubt that anyone would sell these awards during the pre-45 period. They'd be more prized than a U.S. MoH to the recipient at the time and would be worth more prestige than the small amount of RM that they would have fetched.

Coburg in order of merit

There is little doubt as to the awe this badge was held.In October 1922 the right , let alone the Nazi's were up against it.The confrontation exemplified the
Freikorps spirit which galvanised the right and sent Hitler's fringe party into
the fore of radicalized politics.As far as I am concerned this is the number one badge of the movement.

I have to agree with you on the importance of the CB. If the young Party would have lost at Coburg there would have been no Putsch or War and they would just have been a foote note of history.

To further the point,
Coburg gave the 1st real victory outside of Munich for the Party.
The Putsch gave the 1st Martyrs to the Party.
To have both awards made one very special in the eyes of Hitler.
