Quite frankly this is becoming silly.......presumably Russian money (oil) will determine.Having had a conversation with a west coast dealer some years ago
regarding prices even the top boys bow to hard new cash which inevitably will
render us mortals irrelevant.

When you see RK's going for 14K, it's good to see Political pieces just as important, if not more so in TR history gaining importance with collectors. I agree, that prices have gone crazy,but at the end of the day the buyer sets the market.

Prices will surely rise, as the breaking of the dollar is planned,and already in play through our new funky president. Look at the inflation proven by the rise of gold. RK's may surely hit 20 G's if the plan isn't thwarted soon . So hang on to your hats...IMO ....things are going to get worse...before they get any better. I believe the wise investor will buy TR items as a hedge, and , as much as i hate to reveal this here, I think many have already got a feeling about the subject...just aren't quite sure , but the other day they reported the Treasury will print another run , and that means money will be worth much less than even today. The ruble seems stronger than the dollar right now...I think the federal reserve wants us to go to the euro as our standard. Time will prove my theory,so don't believe me, just remember what i said, and i do seriously hope this time I'm wrong. Thanks eric for the info on the badge i sold. I thought so also when i sold it...but hey even a repros got to have some value to fill a spot till an original is found...as everyone won't be able to have one in their collection.

That 27 thousand euro for a second edition BO is mind blowing. I was asked about availability of this a short time ago but thought the second edition BO I have I won't sell for some time. Hearing this, maybe the time is.......NOW!

Coburg Badge

I too placed a bid for this 1st-pattern Coburg Badge and was amazed that it went for €9600 including commission. Only a few years ago Kai Winkler had one of these languishing on his website for 2-3 years at around €3000 and nobody was interested in it. How times have changed....

It was only time that could happen to bring these to the forefront, and I think you've only seen the tip of the iceberg with this.

Jon, I thought that for any order to go for this price would have to have the utmost of specialty for it to be bought for this price.

However, that being said, this only means that the BO that are out there are now starting to be recognized for what they are, probablly the most important of all medals/badges attributed to the 3rd Reich.

Something which during the era, they were recognized for this anyway as many here recognize already.

I can't think of another badge or medal that was awarded in any number that means what it means for the NSDAP movement because if Hitler would of been defeated at Coburg, a very high probability and chances are he would have shrunk form the annals of history as a crack pot instead of becoming the genius the Germans thought he was but in reality in the end the maniac he turned out to be.

All the technology that occured in WWII, specifically the nuclear age was because of his mania to rule the world and yet today we still struggle with the outcome of this.

I also see that second patterns had the RZM but no maker marks which to me, meant that it was under the Reichszeugmeisterei but to whom did they approve for manufacture? Questions and Questions!

The 2nd-pattern were issued by the Brown House in München. Currently, nobody knows who produced them but it was possibly Deschler.

The first striking of the badge was for those who took part in the event.
The second striking had a two fold purpose IMO. For Hitler to give out as a special honor award to certain Party VIP's, and for those holders who wanted to acquire another copy for additional uniforms, or to replace a lost badge, etc. Don't forget, that a lot of the first type badges were probably lost due to their fragile pins, with the later badges having a much improved pin attachment.

For those of you looking for a nice 2nd type badge, Weitze has had one on his site along with a mini for some time priced at 5000 Euros.

Rich you are so right concerning the importance of the CB in NSDAP lore. If Hitler and his small DAP party had failed at Coburg there would have been no reason for the attempted Putsch at Munich and hence no Blood Order.
