Very early 2nd Pattern Blood Order

I found this interesting 2nd Pattern BO numbered 1509 on Weitze's Site which is the earliest that I have seen. This BO IMO could possibly be a late "1st pattern"ie. awarded to a Putsch Vet. According to references many second patterns were awarded late to Putsch Vets. The 1st pattern recipient award lists have numbers all around this number along with some higher. Any thoughts?

Sounds very plausable Erich.Probably putsch vets applied for them in trickles after they saw colleagues wearing their Blutorden and the respect it no doubt attracted. It is the earliest 2nd pattern I have seen as well. Lots of blood orders going through Weitze at the moment, one of them last week from my collection in the 1900's.

I have a 2nd pattern with the serial no. 1651, which was issued in early 1939 (I think).

Another example of a 2nd pattern going to a Putsch vet is pictured in Niemann's book on awards. The BO is in the 2900 range and a letter from the Office of the 9th of Nov. states they were replacing the red award document for a brown one. I really don't think it's as cut and dry as we would like it to be as collectors on the awarding of the 1st or 2nd pattern BO!

Is this not the second or replacement document.

Yes Chris, but my point is why was the second issue a red document not a brown ID again given that he was a first pattern owner?
As Erichs example was of a Putsch vet having his ID 'upgraded' from red to brown when the office identified he 'deserved' to be honoured amongst the first wave of ' 1st pattern 'winners.

John an interesting point. My view would be that the first ID Book, if mislayed or damaged would be replaced by the new standard book. These werte but the Driving Liecence, one would say. Having said that, it is interesting that the ID Book is dated 1939. This also brings up another question, my records show,

261 WAGNER THEODOR ALBERT Bund Oberland, Stab 09/11/1933

Could this be a re issue of the Number? I did a search on my list of holders and as yet I could not find your man. Having said that I have a number of holders yet to input.

Chris, it is actually medal number 251 But yes it was re-issued and corrected/altered on the original issue list. Take a look at this thread,Ross has kindly posted copies of the list.......http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/forums...5100018085/p/1
