Bump for the tab collectors. Could these be SA with a spurious RZM tag?

The material of the oak leaves is odd the least, but I like the shape and construction. SA of course is a very difficult field of collecting. I have some believe in this set.

They look good hands on, but the cording I have never seen before. They are very high quality.

If these are indeed SA Oberfuhrer Tabs, what are they worth retail? I like them, but obviously I overpaid for them when I bought them as SS about 7 years ago.

Hi Chris, I have seen this thread and waited to comment until ive looked at my reference books, i agree i have some belief them as does Laurens BUT the nagging doubt is why an Oberfuhrer would have this type of tab with the embroidery as it is? my only thought maybe SA Wehrmannshaft unit and worn with service jacket?, until a definate answer pricing is near on impossible, how can you place a price on something that is not 100% authenticated? if you know what i mean Sean

Exactly. Now that I have more hands on experience under my belt, I can say that I like the construction and materials, but find them to be confusing.

I thought I'd bump these back up to the top for further discussion. I wonder if anyone has found something similar or has new info since I started this thread a couple of years ago. I still have the tabs, and I believe they are period. But what are they?

They are more closely associated with SA tabs, however IMO they are 100% bad. I don't like the wool or the thick thread. I have never seen an original pair of high ranking SA tabs with this style of embroidery or thread before. Sorry, just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the input Mark. I have never seen anything like them either. They are doeskin and the cording does look period. That is what is so confusing about them. Everyone who has seen them and done a hands on says they are period but no clue as to what they are. I bought them from Jack angolia as SS-Oberfuhrer tabs, but I have since concluded that in any event, they are NOT SS.

I note in David Fuller’s book ‘Collectors Guide to Sturmabteilung Insignia’ (1985) there are a couple of odd-ball tabs (below) that might be ’dismissed’ these days as less than credible.

For me, I think Chris’ tabs are completely plausible under the SA/NSKK organizations.
