NSKK Cap eagle

Gentlemen,

could someone comment on this NSKK cap eagle insignia?

Were the RZM codes ever stamped on the metal prongs? i have only came across all RZM codes being stamped on the wing but never on the prongs.

Your learned opinions on this piece please. thank you.

I've seen SA insignia with the RZM mark stamped on the prong, but this piece is generating some controversy. Are the top edges of the wings present where they turn back or are they cut off?

thank you for the replies guys. the photos were provided to me from the seller and i only had these pictures for reference. i agree that its a bit of a controversy as ive never seen markings on the prongs itself for starters.

the front eagle piece looks good, but when the prongs are reviewed, it seems like a post war copy. its a bit of a worry i think.

A big worry is how the details on the front look worn, but the back looks new and unissued. I've seen this wear on used eagles, but not ones with no oxidation to the back or prongs, quite aside from the position of the RZM mark. Looks to me like a modern stamping that used a worn eagle as the template.

I have that cap eagle in my NSKK collection. Mine has a nice patina to it. Yours has an oddly new look to it. But they both look very similar. Could be a modern stamping of a period eagle, or maybe someone clean an original to solder new pins on it. The wings and the NSKK banner seem to have sharp, rough edges. Mine has a nice clean stamping. So, the modern stamping theory might be correct. I wouldn't count it out yet. More opinions are needed.

Yes it raises all red flags with the front being worn and the back looks mint. at the same time if this had been used on a cap (since worn front), then the prongs would have been worn as well.

i have not purchased this item from the dealer.

Mike, could you post a picture of your eagle with the RZM-ed prongs please.

Here's mine. Like I said, mine has a little more patina, but is probably the same maker. Also mine looks like the pin has been repaired.(Too much solder) Cap insigina like this tends to be stamped sharp and thin. Different makers would have slightly different details. But I still believe they're both original. IMO.

thanks for sharing. your NSKK seems to be not as crisp but i also feel its still a genuine piece. the question is whether markings on the prongs raise any red flags.

1/24 i believe is overhoff....they marked the totenkopf skull badges on the pins the same way..does the piece look die struck. never seen an nskk badge marked on pins but ive seen a few political eagles marked this way..
