Emil Klein was at both Coburg and the putsch and he lived until 2010. it would have been cool to have interviewed him about his experiences at both of these history changing events.

You're right, Erich, and I'll bet the HJ collectors among us would have enjoyed reading his reminiscences of his leadership of that organization in its earliest days. And his experiences with the better-known leaders of the Kaempfzeit would have been informative to us all. Opportunities missed...

A photo of Emil Klein in the last years of his life. He was the last living BO and CB holder. He died in 2010 at age 104. He would have been an interesting guy to talk to about the early years of the party. At Coburg at age 16 and at the Feldherrnhalle at age 17.

A couple of photos that I hope will be of interest, particularly the one showing the reverse of the Feldherrnhale monument with its dedication.

Many thanks, Wessel; two fine pix! One doesn't often see the reverse of the Mahnmal as it gazed across the Putsch Martyrdom Site on the Residenzstrasse toward the Wittelsbach City Palace -- always interesting. I well recall standing right there where those guards -- SA-Stabswache? -- posed for that photo, though about 65 years later!

I would think they are probably an SS Ehrenwache. Hard to say but the coats and helmets look too dark for SA.

A friend sent me this nice pic of an SA man proudly wearing his BO looking to be collecting money for winter relief.

                      Super photo!
Odd to have a blank collar tab but a number of service rings on his sleeve?

He's probably the an SA NCO, possibly 'z.b.V.' (for special purposes) and unassigned to a specific unit. It's also possible that the photo was retouched and the tab detail was removed, although that doesn't appear to be the case.
                        Super photo!

I agree: super photo! His sleeve rings indicate that he had joined the SA between 1 January 1925 and 31 December 1925 -- this combination of rings was the most senior that any SA Man ever wore; Viktor Lutze and his senior class of SA officers proudly wore the very same combination. True Altekämpfers!

This Mahnmal statue posted earlier is really interesting. Does anoyone know the value of it. I would like to purchase a Mahnmal, if I ever find one.

                            Thanks

PS: This thread is incredibly fascinating. It is very interesting to see so many different postcards of the Putsch.

                              Its value depends on:
                              1. is it named, what proof?
                              2. any marble base, black , green or white
                              3. its condition
So far, I track down only 14. It is extremely rare like Coburg badge.

I think the Blutordenträger is more likely a member of the OSAF who wore blank unit tabs. The OSAF was situated in München for a long period, so covering a lot of early SA-men in their organisation.
                                Great picture! Thans for sharing....

                                Best,
