    A few NSKK hats

NSKK items aren't in my field of knowledge, but saying that I think they are good looking hats and I like them alot.

I have these three hats, 2 side caps 1st and 2nd pattern and an early crash helmet that could be motor SA or NSKK. I have a particularly have a soft spot for this one as it was early buy shortly after I started collecting.

I don't have any detailed reference for the NSKK, so can someone tell me what units the colours on the side caps relate to... is it the same colour system as the SA?

Have there been 2 versions of early NSKK eagles on crash helmets? I only know crash helmet eagels with a rotated swastika.

Yes, theres another variation known by collectors as the "static swastika" version, it's also considered less common than the regular "rotate swastika" examples.

Pictures of the two variants appear in the Bender publication on the NSKK/NSFK by Angolia & Littlejohn in page 168.

            David,

The light green NSKK triangle should be for Ostsee and Thuringen if your other hat have a dark brown triangle it should be for Westmark, Niederssachsen, if is red brown it should be Ostmark,Alpenland.

Some times camera flash alter the real colors so I supply the two variation colors.

            Hope it helps,

            Federico

                    Motor SA

Fabulous rare photo!! Notice that the brownshirt appears to be the standard Motor SA, but the collar tabs are the NSKK type with metal numerals. I believe the Motor SA was absorbed into the NSKK in 1934, so perhaps the photo is from this transitional period.
