Eagle ID please

can you tell what type of headgear is this eagle for please? Is it original?

It looks original to me. It is a common civil service (non-Party) cap eagle, used by organizations like Post, railway, forestry, etc. Very occasionally you'll find it substituting for a party eagle on SA and HJ caps.

To answer a PM from Mil, there aren't many books just on eagles. They are sprinkled through books on badges, hats and individual organizations. The only one I know of is a little book in German called "Hoheitsabzeichen des 3. Reiches" by Lothar Hartung (1985), which is more of a catalogue.

Stephen, ive got that book by Lothar and yes, its just a catalogue and in black and white. not much of a use as well.
