The faded RZM tag is one I'm not familiar with. Perhaps very early? It has what looks like a "PO" designation rather than "HJ" "DJ" "PL" ... Perhaps "Political Organization" ??? The buttons are held on with what looks like very old brass split rings.

In fact seems to be a PL ( Politische Organisation ) "P.O. Leitung" service shirt.

Could be restored as an HJ shirt, the fact that it have golden belt hooks, the collar shape and had not the regular HJ buttons assure me in this assumption (IMO are HJ button difficult to find alone).

The shirt seems also to be an early mod, but with 1938/45 shoulder tabs

If all is period sewn, they surely were able to find the right HJ buttons...

The different components seems to be period, but IMHO a put together item.

Here with a pic of a page of the 1936 RZM regulation with a pic of a HJ service shirt (and the right tag) worn with open collar

A political leaders tunic makes since with gold hooks and that RZM tag.

In the HJ the hooks were color coordinated with shoulder board officer piping. This shirt was meant to be a officer only for the HJ, however period photos do show lower ranks wearing them.

I remember in 1995 a suprising number of stripped tunics showed up. Some must have been rebuilt correctly but I saw alot rebuilt as HJ that were not HJ. I bought a stripped NSKK tunic dirt cheap and the dealer told me it was HJ and we had a little argument that it was not HJ. I bough it anyway.

Could it be period use for Hj Sure, but most likely rebuilt.

Thanks for everyone's thoughts. The shirt did not come from a dealer or collector. The seller had no clue as to what it was (much less, how to reconstruct one). But who knows it's history before that?

Yes, it could have been worn like that in the TR days. Not regulation but possible.

Have you been to the Hj forum?

I hope I'm not "beating a dead horse" here but here is some more info I found on page 206 of Angolia's The HJ Volume 1:

"Buttons per regulations dated 15 September 1933
Leather Buttons: tunic buttons measured 20mm in daiameter and 2mm deep. They were made of brown natural leather worn on the tunic front. Leather buttons worn on the pockets of the tunic and on the HJ brown shirt measured 15mm in diameter."
