    Hi Gerard,

I can clearly see your point. Epp was from München and held high positions in almost every political branch.

What I mean is that Ritter von Epp can be seen in many period fotos in SA uniform. In those fotos you can see that he always wore a kepi, wich was very characteristic, and recogonizable. This kepi is a textbook example.

I can't upload pictures here, but I'm willing to send you one if you like.

    Best,

    Laurens

This foto from the Robert Noss collection says it all.

I have restored the kepi back to what it looked like during the Third Reich. The family stored it so well that the chinstrap was still supple. It only took a few minutes to get it back in shape. The later eagle went in the holes that were on the cap for the larger eagle. I hope you enjoy.

But Laurens, surely he would not have worn that very early fantasy "shirt" kepi with this later general's uniform. What about his later uniform with general tabs? Just curious if there is a photo.

            Hi Gerard,

The kepi of yours is for the four pocket tunic. I never saw any period photos of him wearing a kepi with the tunic.

My mistake to mix up the the Braunhemd-kepi with the four pocket-kepi.

              Laurens,
No, I understand, BUT, it doesn't mean he didn't have one, correct? For a 1933 or so kepi that was worn for a number of years to include the 36 eagle, this kepi has very little wear. I am not saying it is his, I am just trying to figure if it could be his. So far, it is not disproven. Now, if I could only find his assignment or appointment, then I could know if he was on the OSAF.

Yes you're correct, he must have one with the four pocket tunic.

                v. Epp was attached to the OSAF as Führer z.b.V and Führer z.V to the OSAF Stab.

                  V. Epp Must Have Been One Of The Few Germans Who Was A Member Of The S A, S S And N S K K All At The Same Time. An Interesting Feature Of The Kepi He Is Wearing In Robert Noss's Photo Is The Vertical Tresse Going To The Bill Is Mounted On An Angle And Is Not Ninety Degree To The Horizontal Tresse.

Bob, you raise an interesting point--I wonder who (besides Goering or someone of his stature) had the most memberships in TR organizations--v. Epp had to be up there, given that he also was a Reichsleiter.

And the visor of the kepi appears to be of the leather type. Very interesting piece of headgear in this photo!!!!
