RAILROAD EAGLE made from IRON, huge size

Hi friends,

I have a RRE, which is in my opinion a period piece.

I saw these ones till now made from aluminium, but mine is made from iron, and has a size of 28" x 15".
On the backside is a maker mark, this was damaged by disassembly, it says "Garthe" or so.

I know about the many fakes out there, even from good quality, but I never saw a original one made from iron, and never saw a good copy made from iron. Perhaps you have examples for me?????

sorry this is not an authentic original RailRoad eagle, look at the cast pores

for shure it isn`t a railroad eagle, they where made from aluminium (due to the weight) and show another finish, thats correct. Iron cant get the same finish-quality as alu.

That one must have hung on a building, or so.

If it would be a copy, there must be a lot of them, because producing that eagles in iron would cost a lot, and you can only make money if you sell a lot of them.

Did someone saw one of that type of eagle in the past?

Sorry, but this looks like a recently cast item to me...I would not buy it. Cheers, Torsten.
