    Military & PL-Rank Equivalents?

As we know, for Form IV insignia, there are around 65 different ranks. One thing I have never seen published is comparative ranks for Political Leaders vis a vis the military.

I would assume many (at least 4-5) would overlap a single military rank level, but could we assume that a Gauleiter is roughly a 3-star general, while a Reichsleiter a 4-star?

So, for example, what would be the military rank equivalent for a Haupt-Berichsleiter? A Gemeinschftsleiter? Any thoughts on the remainder of the rank groups? Maybe I am off-base and there is no military equivalent, but this has always nagged me. Any thoughts/comments/insights would be greatly appreciated (especially for a 30-year visor specialist who is now finding another addiction, which I blame entirely on this book):

As to Equivalent ranks in Party and Military Organisation, a list can be found
in the Ballantine Book "Nazi Regalia" by Jack Pia.

Ed, I threw that book away over 25 years ago after it finally fell apart. Can you scan that page onto this thread?

I've just taken a look at my copy (hadn't even looked at it for several years until I read this thread. I'd scan the pages but I fear if I opened the book and flattened it out enough to scan, I'd have the same problem that resulted in stonemint throwing his copy out. Maybe I can photograph them later this week unless Ed can get them scanned.

Ed kindly sent me scans, but they are too big to load , and when I reduce them, they turn out too small. You might be best off just taking a pic of the pages in question and then posting.

Great job Jeff! I tried to get mine open that far and noticed that it was straining the spine to the point of separation of the pages before it was entirely open.

PS your book is in the mail to me as I write this. Looking forward to reading it. It has gotten some great reviews here.

                        Thanks Richard!

I didn't want to snap the book spine and have to throw it away like stonemint did, so I took pictures instead

Thanks, Jeff. As I expected, there definately is some overlapping of ranks. Interesting in that although the NSDAP had EM/NCO equivalent ranks, they still wore officer-quality uniforms and chincords.
