The HJ leader at center in your photo is future Gauleiter Hartmann Lauterbacher, who served under von Schirach as "Stabsführer der Reichsjugendführung und Stellvertreter des Reichsjugendführers" (from 19.05.1934 to 00.05.1940).

Everyone,

Though this thread is on HJ Leaders, what else is revealed in these photos is also interesting.

I particularly enjoyed stonemint's post #9. This one showed an NSFK Gruppenfuhrer on the right. These photos always stand out for me as I also collect NSFK.

The NSFK officer is Karl Sauke. He later became Chief of Staff to the NSFK Korpsfuhrer. Born in 1897 but no info on his death. I have seen him in other photos as well -- the huge scar on his chin is unmistakable. It would be interesting to know more about him.

The photo shows him with all sorts of awards and badges. Really nice to see, particularly the Slovak pilot's badge and the large NSFK Glider Pilot's badge. I have an example in my collection, shown below.

I had never heard of this guy until I saw this pic(which I believe is from the AHF)--apparently he won the RK early in the Russian campaign as an NCO, and his name is Johann Jungkunst. Looks like he is sporting a gold wound badge, so I assume he was invalided to the HJ:

Jungkunst was the commander of the Wehrertuchtigungslager Flossenburg. He lost his right arm. Won the Rk on 30. Aug. 1941 with 11./Inf Rgt 41
