Everyone,
Though this thread is on HJ Leaders, what else is revealed in these photos is also interesting.
I particularly enjoyed stonemint's post #9. This one showed an NSFK Gruppenfuhrer on the right. These photos always stand out for me as I also collect NSFK.
The NSFK officer is Karl Sauke. He later became Chief of Staff to the NSFK Korpsfuhrer. Born in 1897 but no info on his death. I have seen him in other photos as well -- the huge scar on his chin is unmistakable. It would be interesting to know more about him.
The photo shows him with all sorts of awards and badges. Really nice to see, particularly the Slovak pilot's badge and the large NSFK Glider Pilot's badge. I have an example in my collection, shown below.
