    HJ District Triangles

    Some help, please.
I have seen an HJ Leaders tunic that looks good, except for the shoulder boards and I have rejected it for that reason.

However, another issue now comes to mind with the District Triangle. It is 'Nord Hamburg' without the Traditions Stripe. Should Hamburg have such a stripe?

In the Hayes/Maguire book there is a very similar HJ Leaders tunic, but this has a NORD HAMBURG patch with stripe, whereas the Littlejohn book (p. 64) shows such a triangle without the stripe!

Were both styles available, and if so who/what rank were entitled to wear what?

    Hi,

The purpose of the stripe (Traditionslitze) was to show that the wearer of the uniform had been a member of the HJ prior to the 30th Jan 1933. It was sewn onto a standard district triangle. The Traditionslitze was awarded to individuals, not units. The wearer had to complete an application form and had to provide proof that he/she had fulfilled the above requirement.

Just a quick edit to add that the wearing of the Traditionslitze wasn't rank-dependant. It follows though that someone who had been HJ prior to 30.1.33 is likely to have already (at that point) or later reached a leadership position making it logical that more Traditionslitze are seen on leaders' uniforms.

      Garry-
Thank You For Clarifying That Information. The Exisiting Reference Books Are Not Clear On That Point. It Is Logical As Other Political Organizations Utilized The Old Fighter's Chevron Or Alter Kampfer Winkel.
