Why do SA uniforms only have 1 Shoulder Board?

I know it's a newbie question, but why do the SA uniforms have just the 1 shoulder board? Is there any specific reason?

    Cheers.

The Single Shoulder Board Was Worn Up To The Introduction Of The 1939 Pattern Insignia. From That Point On, Double Shoulder Boards Were Worn On The Tunic While The Brown Shirt Retained Only One Strap. This Manner Of Shoulder Strap Wear Was Consistant With The N S K K And The S S Also.

I am kinda guessing but shoulder straps had multiple functions. They could denote rank and branch of service. They also were meant to hold in-place load bearing straps. Since most political uniforms included a single shoulder cross-strap, there was only a need for one shoulder board.
