Interesting R.A.G.D. bronze insignia

Gents..this came on the remains of a laquered pole, cut down as a souvenir..what exactly is the R.A.G.D.? i take it that it has something to do with the early NSBO organisation?

It's for the Reichsverband Ambulanter Gewerbetreibender Deutschlands, an association of Schausteller, Schauhandelsgewerbetreibende etc.

These were people that made a living by working & trading at events like the Munich Oktoberfest. Basically anybody doing business there is to be considered an ambulanter Gewerbetreibender, these were travelling salesmen doing business only at certain places like Volksfeste etc.

Thanks Don..it is interesting to think what type of banner or flag this was associated with, as the man i received this from remembers it as being quite ornate..it's a pity that the base is missing because he says it was quite elaborate..
