    Trommel für Formationen der nsdap.

    Hello guys,

I just bought a drum and I want to know what your opinion is about it. I think it’s real, but I have doubts about the belt.

What do you think about the drum and the belt?

    Kind regards,

    Jeffrey.

            Hello Mg-Freak,

            Thanks for your response.
Here are some pictures of it. Hope you can help me out, or somebody els.

But what do you think about the drum self?

            Kind regards,

            Jeffrey.

Drums are tough to ID unless they are postwar made. This is a standard early snare drum with wood rims and no metal covering to them. All of the III. Reich drums I have feature rims with a metal protective 'skin'. The snare should be made of catgut vs. metal springs (the spring type I've only seen used on post war drums). The heads of the tightening screws are usually triangular or square, and the sticks have cutouts in the brass end that engage the screw ends and allow tightening and loosening. These drums are still in use today, and predate the III. Reich period, which makes them difficult to date exactly.

I would like to bring this one back to the top for opinions/discussion. I know that these are hard to date but here is a drum in my collection.

I note it also has a belt similar to the one posted here. It has a small waist size, no more than 29-30 inches I think.

Also see that the eagle is the same as the one posted above, meaning with no tail and a crown.

Sticks are similar to the ones I have seen in HJ photos, not black, and not with the indented screw tightners seen on normal military black and brass ended sticks.

Of course, this drum has had the skins replaced and another interesting feature, the red triangles are pointed outwards, not inwards.

Either whoever painted this did it wrong, or, when he assembled it, he put the top ring on the bottom and the bottom ring on the top and found out too late he had it backwards. Who knows? Maybe this was the way it was supposed to be. I do not know.
