    Fanfare Trumpet & DJ Banner

Here's something a little different and a favourite of mine - a fanfare trumpet which is made of brass with nickel fittings, which have aged to the dull colour often seen on un-cleaned political daggers. There doesn't seem to be any maker mark on it, bit I did find a stamp or engraving that says 'Deutsche Wertarbeit', meaning Quality German Work?

The DJ banner has a few holes in the Rune, and two of the ties have been replaced. It is not maker marked in any way.

Also has a length of red and white rope attached, similar in appearance to the lanyards seen on uniforms. Any info on why this might be attached would be welcomed.

Hope you like it as much as I do!

    Regards
    Russell

                  WOW

                  If you ever sell it....

You must build a mannequin of a DJ boy with this trumpet on his mouth that will be great!!!

A Very Nice Item From Your Collection. Does The Banner Have A Town Name Or Image On The Reverse?

                      Thanks gents.

Kurt, I hope to put together a mannequinn as you suggest, but don't have a basic uniform to start with yet.

Bob, the banner is plain black on the reverse, unfortunately no names or images on this one.

Anyone have any views on the rope - significance to a rank, or District as with the lanyards perhaps, or just a decoration? It looks like it is original to the trumpet.

                      Regards
                      Russell

Just a thought on the rope, it could simply be used as a shoulder strap to allow the user to carry the trumpet "hands free" when not in use, who knows?, certainly looks original to the piece....nice find .

Thanks Sparks - I think you are probably right. I've had a look at some photos showing the trumpets being played, and in a couple of them, there are straps attached about the same length. They are not rope, but wider, like leather, so this could possibly have been an alternative - thanks!

Mine also came with a rope / string attached, much like Russell's. I am absolutely confident that it is original to the trumpet (which incidentally is RZM marked) and yes, they would have been used for carrying purposes, i.e. as a shoulder strap.

I have however wondered if their is some significance to the colours used and have been meaning to check mine for some time.

When I get a moment I will make a photo of it.
