Party stuff is not my area of specialty, so forgive me for asking a dumb question. What kind of pennant is this? With my luck it is fake, but if not... what is it worth? Thanks!

I've seen them with higher asking prices, but I've never seen one actually sell for more.

...about todays prices for old flags
Originally posted by Erich Benndorff View PostApparently not. Well, anyone can ask whatever price they choose, silly or not!
Erich
on the prices of old flags - Herman Historica in Munich recently
got 9000 Euros for a WW2 US unit flag that sells for a few hundred
over here. Likewise, can't say I've seen many SA command
level pennants for sale recently either, so maybe a high asking
price for same is just as subjective. All I can really say is I'm glad
I got my stuff years ago before prices went crazy!

Erich's reply was appreciated, but not accurate from what I have found. These are very tough to find and even the cheapest cheapskate told me they are worth at least $1500.
When I get something rare, I sell it for it's maximum value. Things like this fund my hobby for things I collect (I don't collect party stuff obviously).
Prices have skyrocketed on everything, not just flags. It's the new internet economy -- people from all over the world can buy your item, not just the folks that show up at local militaria shows. Rich Europeans have driven the prices up. I wish they were lower, but I'm not going to screw myself here. If I can get $3k I am going to.
You watch fellas... I will take this to SOS and come home without it. It may not even last that long -- I have PM's about it right now.
I hope all my collecting friends find one rare piece a year they can sell for top dollar! Happy Hunting!

Didn't the seller say there are only two for sale? that sounds pretty scarce to me. I can think of a lot of scarce items that I can find more than two for sale at any given moment by searching well. I think it's pretty neat flag and If i had that kind of cash, I'd pay for it.

Rarity And Value Are Two Different Things That Most Collectors Do Not Appreciate. It May Be Rare, But If The Area Of Collecting It Falls In To Does Not Meet The Demand Of The Market Place, Rarity Has Little To Do With The Reality Of Value. I Bought Three Of These Out Of A Major Military Auction House Less Than Seven Years Ago And None Of Them Sold For Over $300.00. In Fact, I Was The Only Bidder. Erich Is A Long Time Collector Of S A Material And I Think He Has Given A Legitimate Value To This Piece. At The Asking Price, I Bought An S A Gruppe Command Flag From A Friend Several Years Ago And Was Considered By Many To Be Nuts For Paying That Much. A Gruppe Command Flag Is 10,000 Times Rarer Than An Ordinary Sturmbann Command Pennant. For Those Who Think Erich And I Are Wrong, I Will Be Happy To Sell One Of Mine To The First Buyer For 2k And The Condition Is Much Better Than The One In This Thread.Attached FilesLast edited by Bob Coleman; 11-19-2007, 10:08 PM.
