The National Emblem Was Updated On This Kepi But It Is Definitely Pre R Z M As Is The Feldjaeger Example.

I remember that FJK leader's kepi for sale as well--it started at a (relatively) high price and gradually came down incrementally. Assuming it eventually sold, I don't know who ended up with it. I didn't like it because of the obvious non spec aspects, as well as the construction being not quite right. I've been looking for a FJK kepi for many years, but just haven't been able to find one I liked.

If Two Respected Collectors Like Joe And Erich Did Not Like The Kepi, I Repect Their Opinion. I Only Saw The Piece From Joe's Images. They Certainly Are A Difficult Piece Of Headgear To Find

Guys, I am no Kepi experten, but the logo for the FJK Generals Joe posted is period appropriate for Pekuro. HOWEVER, a big red flag for me on that one is that the hat reflects that it has Pekuro's patented Stirndruckfrei feature (ie, the velvet strip between the sb and the body of the Kepi)--this one appears to be lacking it, all the more strange, since it would have been a special-order piece.

          Just my 2 pfennigs worth.

It Certainly Would Be Interesting To See Good Shots Of This Piece Today. I Do Not Believe Serious Attempts Were Being Made To Replicate Kepis Back In The Mid 80's. The Book It Is In Dates To 1985. So The Kepi Is Likely Photographed Before That Point. There Are Many Variations That Can Be Found In Early Kepis, Leading Some To Judge Them As Fake. It Would Be Interesting If Our Panel Of Judges Could Revisit This Piece With Detailed Construction Pics.

That was my thought at the time as well--who would reproduce so esoteric a kepi as this? Another FJK, but for regular ranks, was sent to me to examine around the late 80s or early 90s. I felt that one was likely an original body with a redone white top, although the workmanship was acceptable. The dealer who sent it sold it as an original, but it wasn't one that I wanted for my collection.
