MRW, Very nice pieces. I'm not certain this is relevant to your post but I thought the AK was interesting. Sorry if off topic.

MJC,
That little cut out airplane is really something! If I were you, I'd have a color copy made at the same exact size (or close), cut out the pieces from the copy, assemble it and see how she flies.. Bet it flies good.. Might have to add a little clay to the nose to get the proper center of gravity.. The weight of the glossy photo paper should be about right.. Then you'd have a nice display ..
Thanks for posting..

Stan,
Nice badge! J. Angolia's book states that these came in two grades, Bronze and Gold. Your's looks to be Bronze. Obviously, there were different producers of this badge. Or just different hardware used.. J. Angolia also states the top numbers are the patent number, looks like a date to me, 261943 or June 2, 1943. Maybe I'm reaching. The bottom number is the serial number of the DLV/NSFK member.
Since these badges do not have a swastika, I would think they were more of the DLV period (1932) and pre NSFK ( April 17,1937). I'm shooting in the dark..
There are NSFK Model Proficiency Badges in hand embroidered cloth, that do have swastikas. I sure would like to find on of these...
The book I am referring to is, "NSKK - NSFK" Uniforms, Organization and History by J. Angolia & David Littlejohn
Best..

Most of my NSFK collection is on display at a museum this summer.
I have no model badges, but some model related photos and documents.
The first photo is from a german 1942 book about NSFK.
The next two are from a model exhibition in 1938.

Here are some plans for one of the model airplanes they built. I'm going to have this original plan scanned and build the model from the copy using balsa and tissue. Exactly the way they did back then. This plan is very fragile and quite rare .. It will be interesting to see one of these little gliders actually fly ..Attached FilesLast edited by M Wipf; 09-22-2007, 08:43 AM.
