I called it original by looking at the back of it. (assuming it was the 3 number type 1 square O pin no 201)
Before we put this one to bed, let me ask something- if this pin was a cast reproduction- would it still have the 3 number type 1 square O pin or whatever you claim is the guarantee of it being 100% good?

No, what I am saying is that unless a grouping like this has come directly from the family, extreme caution must tbe exercised.

A friend of mine sent me a photo showing Maurice on the 9th getting ready for the march and the only awards that he is wearing are the GPB on his tie and the CB on his shirt pocket. That said, doesn't one think that if he was awarded this special BO badge from Hitler the night before he would have it pinned proudly to his shirt the following day for the festivities?
I would think you got your dates mixed up. Post #49 mentions those being given out on the evening of November 9th, not 8th as you claim. Even if those were destined to being worn (which apparently they were not according to Maurice), you still would not see them worn during the Putsch Anniversary March on Nov.9th, 1933 which was held earlier that day.

          cheers

So why use it in an argument against the items originality? To make it look worse than it is?

No need. I already know the answer.

You are correct regarding the date of the alleged awarding of the badge and I stand corrected.

What a mess this is becoming? The badge is the same, for some reason it was photoshopped (and possibly cleaned) when it was shown in the magazine. Maybe as protection to confuse fakers, maybe because of something else. Besides the whole current discussion and EM group being sold now, it would have been wise to react when the badge was discussed last time, as now it is even more confusing and suspicious.

Could it be the lighting that only the Singer badge has these conic circles on the reverse?

                  Hi David and Matthew,

Regarding the SS pin: i too thought (and still think, duh!) it is good, by looking at the reverse mainly. I took the gamble on buying it with these weak pictures and think i made the right choice. Sometimes reverse photos tell us more than obverse ones. I heard yesterday it has arrived but since im often away my mail doesn't arrive at my home adress and due to work i can't pick it up before next Friday. Ill post a new topic then with better photo's and everyone is more than welcome to discuss it. May i please ask to leave the pin out of this discussion till then? No matter how good or bad it is all intended, it is distracting from the discussion here and i think the pin deserves a better shot as being linked to this confusing topic with items that are (however one looks at it) suspicious.

                  best regards,
                  Gaston

Why is there no post to explain if Bob still has this group or who it went to before auction. Only one can explain that. tpk

                      Gaston,

The only reason the BO badge was mentioned when this thread has been revisited this year was to throw mud on it. Why? Because it makes for a good story and makes some feel like they know what they're talking about.

The 'bigger gap' on Maurice badge has some puzzled now..
I am trying to piece it together myself- so the badge is a fake...oops, sorry- not a fake, it 'creates more questions than answers type original'. After the die to produce those have been made and few copies have been struck the fakers decided that the only thing that did not quite fit was the size of the gap on Fuess stamp. So they decided to create a new Fuess stamp which is what was used on Maurice badge. Which is what David is seeing and kindly shared with the rest of us.

Diabolically clever would be an understatement.

If the admission to this place required any sort of testing for coherency and logic before posting, it would have less than 10 members and most threads would be monologues.

                      cheers

Well Jo, don't buy it. Stick with what you know. There are items in the group worth far more than what I paid for the grouping. There are plenty of people waiting in line for my collection. Please do not let it distress you. It certainly does not distress me and I am having a wonderful time collecting.

As they say- a man's word is his bond. So let's hear what your proof is for this 'piece of cast rubbish'.

It just don't look like you guys are ever going to agree here so why keep on with it? Everyone who has followed this thread has already made there decision on what they believe to be true. It does no good to keep going back and forth. The group seems to have disappeared into thin air anyway. Where is it who owns it is it for sale? Who knows as London as no one else gets burned I don't care. If whom ever owns it now is happy with it then so be it. Let that be that if they ever try to sell it just a little bit of research will lead them here and the buyer can make their own decision on if they should spend there money or not.
