I'll have to look it up, but I believe it was called a 'traveling blouse', to be worn when on a trip of some sort.

I have a similar one with a tag. Erich is correct, I remmember reading these blouses were for use when traveling. I'll try to post some pics of mine this weekend.

Did You Get Yours On Ebay 6-7 Years Ago? There Were Two That Were Sold Several Weeks Apart By The Same Seller. I Was Going To Go After The Second One But Forgot To Bid.

German WW2 BDM (Bund Deutscher Mädchen or German Girls Club), which was the female version of the HJ, gray poplin travel blouse with tag. Unissued example showing some storage soiling, but extremely rare. Has a paper BDM/JM large paper RZM tag attached to the top button. Buttons are white plastic with "BDM JM" on them. Small size tag in collar, which reads "42". Is still in the original "folding" shape it has always been in, the top part having some soiling from storage. Extremely rare item and the first one I have seen. $575

              Maybe this helps.

              Cheers,

                Bob,
Here's the photos of my BDM. I got this from a collector. It is very similar to yours.

The blouse has a couple of stains, but I think the colors are very close, if not an exact match. I would think all of the BDM blouses are pretty rare, most were probably used after the war.

Did You Notice The Serial Number On Your R Z M Tag Is 17 Digits Off From The One Gerard Has? Likely, They Both Came From The Same Store Or Factory When They Were Picked Up.

                        Bob,
I did notice that. They were probably part of a group someone picked up, probably post war. Not the type of thing a GI would grab.

If I remember corectly, a quanity of these appeared in about 1997-98. Where they were found I never knew. I have not seen many since then. It is the old story of a "box" is discovered and once they were sold there gone. Nice

Likely A Batch Was Found As The R Z M Numbers Are So Close On Two Of Those Shown On This Thread. Mine Likely Came From A Different Source As The R Z M Number Is Way Off And The Hersteller Number Is Different.

There was a huge army surplus store in Toronto Canada, called Hercules..
they were importing German surplus equipment and cloth items from eastern europe and other sources in the late 50's and 60's..

I used to have an old catologue that detailed sales of BDM, HJ etc. items such as jackets, caps ,skirts, to be sold as school uniforms, office wear etc..i imagine there was quite a bit to be had after the war..certainly Hercules had one of the largest selections of German tunics and pants of all types in the 60's..all sold off as camping/hunting gear!!
