    Staff cars.

I was hoping someone could tell me what SS officers and high ranking Nazi official used for their staff cars. Make/Model and approximate years. Thank you. Also if anyone has and photos of one, that would help. Thanks again.

As said before Mercedes Benz(the 770k for the veery top oficials) but also the Maybach automobiles. The most famous and rare of ALL the goverment staff cars is the Mercedes Benz 540 Aktion P(for panzer) cars wich where special order by the goverment by direct order of A.Hitler after the assesination of Heinrich Heydrich by Polish commandos.

For lower ranks even Fords where used as well as small BMW convertibles, in those times a hardtop was more expensive than a convertible, this models of course where rarely permited to appear in a official motorcade, for those Mercedes was supreme and with good reason, they where great cars(still are) and in almost all cases beautiful to!!!!

Also theres a book call ''STAFF CARS OF THE THIRD REICH" wich deal in this specific topic, it pop up from time to time in e-bay.

Also theres a book call "Mercedes Benz-the supercharge 8 cylinder car of the 1930" wich have a special section for T.R. goverment cars including experimental models, also theres is a section of the cars in use by the "owners" of the period, I have this specific book and is great the photos are magnificent. I am in the way to find the even rarer second volume.

Unfortunatly I don't have a scanner to give you some visual ref.

                Cars

Hello Guys, Kinda off topic but interesting just the same. While doing a Tour of Duty in Viet Nam, A friend of mine and his combat team were taking a break sitting on the side of the road. Buddy said that he started hearing the sound of Headers. His friends thought that he was crazy. then as the sound got closer all the guys agreed that yes...it sounds like a set of headers rumbling down the road. Then Buddy said that he and his team were shocked to see an Olive Drab Corvette pass them complete with fender flags that had three Stars on them. I guess Rank does have it's privleges. All the best, Butch
