Hi Ron,
That is a nice patch.
I have it pictured in a period polizei Sports magazine from February 1938.
Allthough the picture is B&W the back color of the "AO"-field and the main field in that picture are the same (red?)
I am not saying yours is wrong, it does look good, but in 1938 the color layout was a bit different.

According to the caption with the picture 1938 also was the year the badge was introduced

This was from one of my vet buys from over twenty years ago. It has been on a uniform and appears to be from a sport's outfit, so I am sure it was washed in Germany several times. All in all a rare patch and outside my collecting areas. It is rather large, like an Army sport's shirt eagle.
