The obverse looks pretty good, but what are the markings on the reverse--I assume one is the RZM, but what is the other? The badge usually has an M code.

The other is an number "15". Some major German dealers condering these badges as good. Some collectors have their doubts, other just don't know what to think (including myself). But according to some respected dealers this type is a good one.

Their is a possibility that these badges were made by Hofstätter. The "15" marking could be referer to M1/15 (Ferdinand Hoffstätter). According to "SJL" their could be a little transistional period when the M1/ was not in use. I have also found some info that 1. Hoffstätter indeed made the HJ-Ehrenzeichen and 2. Before the RZM, Hofstätter had more than one patent on typical political badges. Maybe there was some trouble when this important manufacturer, who was one of Hitlers first supporters in the Rhein-area, had to live with those new orders. Just my thoughts...

I tend to agree that these are good in that they exhibit the fire gold glit finish, especially noticable on the reverse. You don't find this finish on the reproductions as this type of finish is next to impossible to produce today due to the production method required for this finish. It is too toxic and not done in today's production.
