    SA Obersturmbannfuehrer Shirt

Here's a nice SA brown shirt for an Obersturmbannfuehrer and doctor of Standarte 88 (Grossalmerode near Kassel), Group Hessen. It has one set of loops on the pocket and the NSDAP membership sleeve stripe for 1932.

Very Nice Early Insignia. Note The Deluxe Piping Used On The Collar And Around The Collar Tabs. Nice One.

Thanx. This is my favorite SA shirt.

I would think it would be relatively easy to research the owner and get a name - how many SA-Obersturmbannfuehrer doctors could there have been in Grossalmerode around 1934?

Anyone have a resource for that sort of information?

The loops on the pocket are relatively close...maybe a wound badge or iron cross but maybe even something with a shorter pin.

I like this new forum very much with all the new input! What a great shirt..

In May '36 San.-Standartenf******252;hrer Bernhard Siebels was dismissed from his function as docter of St.88. Than in December from the same year his successor was San.-Obersturmbannf******252;hrer Adolf Bohrer. In '39, San.-Sturmf******252;hrer Hans Scheerer became docter of this Standarte.

This Standarte 88 moved from Wetzlar/Lahn, to Dillenburg to Grossalmerode. Did you found any relation between the shirt and Grossalmerode?

                        Best,

                        Laurens

                          Thanks for your information, Laurens~!

The resource I use for SA Standarte location is the one produced by US intelligence at the end of WW2 so it reflects the state of the SA as of that time.

So, the shirt is probably from the earlier period when the Standarte was in Wetzlar/Lahn.

From your information, Laurens, I presume this could be the shirt of either Siebels or Bohrer.

Yes, or from the predecessor of Siebels maybe, but I don't have his name, if there was someone in this position before Siebels of course.

                            Good luck!

most likely, the loops are for a D R L or S A sports badge. The lack of loops for a ribbon bar would indicate the owner was not a military man
in the First World War. Even the lowliest soldier would have been awarded the Hindeberg Cross. A doctor would have likely been awarded some state orders or medals for his service.
