Hola John! As I understand it, the gray stripes denote an SA Reserve armband.
    Saludos,
    John

NSDAP Party, SS & HJ Armbands

      John,
      Here is my assessment:
      1. NSDAP - Looks good. Most likely homemade (disc applied at home).
      2. NSDAP turned into an SS - The NSDAP armband is original. Black stripes were added later to make it into an SS armband. Could be a period alteration, but I would have to see a close-up of the material used for the stripes.
      3. NSDAP turned into an SS - The NSDAP armband looks original. The black stripes are a sure sign of post-war reproduction. The tell-tale sign is the triangular weave pattern in the stripes. This type of triangular weave is being used as stripe material in all of the reproduction armbands with stripes these days such as the early political armbands with white stripes, Studentenbund armbands, SS armbands, and SA Reserve armbands.
      4. Nice, original Hitler Youth armband.
      5. Post-war souvenir armband made by enterprising Germans shortly after WWII to sell to GIs. Some members/collectors will argue that these are authentic, but I have yet to see a period photograph of anyone wearing this style armband and the way they are all made smells of post-war.
      6. Excellent, original example of a Political Leader armband.
I hope this helps. Remember, these are just my opinions so take them for what they are worth. I usually do not bother to respond to these because people tend to get upset if/when you tell them that they own a reproduction, but I'm getting tired of seeing people duped by those well-made reproduction armbands that use the triangular weave pattern stripes. There is no doubt in my mind that these are all reproduction pieces. Good luck to you in the future. Chris

Thanks for your comments, Chris. I appreciate your having taken the time to respond - after all, that is what I asked, so would not get defensive if it was perhaps something I did not want to hear - but I realize that some folks do. I am also here to learn from others who know more about certain areas than I do - in this case armbands. I accept your opinions at face value. Thanks, again.

Armbands can be a tough call -- especially early ones (pre RZM) which can be homemade.

The NSDAP Orts and the HJ are both later armbands and look good.

I pretty much agree with Dastardly on the others. Sometimes you have to go by the smell & feel.

This thread might help you out:
